The SOCIETY FOR CLIMATE ACTION IN NIGERIA (SCAN)

Driving Climate Action Through Research, Policy & Collaboration in Nigeria

The Society for Climate Action in Nigeria (SCAN) is an output of the Climate Impacts Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) programme. CIRCLE was an initiative of the UK Department for International Development (DFID), implemented in collaboration with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), and the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, UK.

The programme, implemented between 2015 and 2018, aimed to build the capacity of African researchers and their institutions to effectively address the environmental, social, and economic impacts of climate change. It provided fellowships to over 100 climate scientists from thirty-nine universities across Africa.

SCAN continues this legacy by fostering collaboration, research excellence, and policy engagement in Nigeria.
