The Society for Climate Action in Nigeria (SCAN) strengthens climate research capacity, promotes evidence-based policy, and fosters collaboration among scientists, institutions, and stakeholders to address environmental, social, and economic impacts of climate change.
About Us
The Society for Climate Action In Nigeria (SCAN) is an output of the Climate Impacts Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) programme. CIRCLE is an initiative of the Uk’s Department for international Development (DFID) implemented in collaboration with Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) at the University of Greenwich, UK.
Our Objectives
The Objectives of SCAN includes among others:
Research Support
Support climate change scientist in diverse research conduct that will generate credible data to guide environmental discourse in the country.
Project Funding Support
Support target audience accessing available funding to support viable projects that will contribute to sustainable environ in the country.
Policy Guidance
Provide guide to government and other relevant agencies to accelerate action information and implementation of evidence informed climate change policies in Nigeria.
Capacity Building
Contribute to capacity building of target audience through trainings, workshops and symposia.
Strategic Collaboration
Lead collaboration for strategic multi- stakeholders partnership between scientists, organizations, government agencies and related agencies in the conduct and management of environmental issues.
